The Airport Idiot

The theory is that if you fly British Airways, you are more likely to be insulated from the type of fellow passenger that you would wish to avoid. Anyone who has found themselves on a budget airline flight to Spain wedged in the middle of a partying hen or stag party, woud welcome that insulation.

However, there is no guarantee of avoiding the undesirables.

Australia - Journey to the Rock

By early afternoon five flights have arrived; by mid-afternoon the last of five outbound flights is leaving. As the final passengers shuffle out of the departure hall, the cafe is closing down. Connellan Airport doesn't do pressure.

991 miles from Adelaide; 1,216 miles from Darwin; 1,274 miles from Perth; 1,440 miles from Melbourne; 1,761 miles from Sydney. Welcome to Ayer's Rock.

This ignores Alice Springs, but Alice Springs is still 287 miles away - six hours of driving, or a 50 minute flight.

Not so Blue Mountains - A Tourist Experience

For a tour guide, it is good sometimes to see life from a tourist's perspective...

You get up in Sydney at 6am in order to be at another hotel in time to catch a coach that takes you to a further hotel to wait for the coach that is your coach for the day. By this time you are back near to your own hotel.

There are other people waiting. They are bedraggled, as it is raining. They have empty faces. This could be through tiredness or jet lag or both.

2017 - One Man's Fringe

"It's better by rail". Said a friend of mine years ago, and the statement ought to be true for a North Londoner doing the trek to Edinburgh. Scheduled 4 hours 20 minutes from King"s Cross, into the heart of the City centre.

Scheduled 4 hours 20 minutes. To which add 40 minutes of delay for a train fault. Not a major problem - time to note the compensation entitlement, sit back and relax.

Article 50 Litigation - High Court words not to forget

The media caravan has moved on from the Supreme Court, and attention is now focused back on Parliament. This piece picks out a handful of paragraphs from the High Court's judgment as referred to in my earlier article. These paragraphs might provide some enlightenment set against the political rhetoric that is now again in full flow.

My reading of the Supreme Court judgment is that the judgment does not contradict or qualify any of the statements in the paragraphs referred to below.
